The Poetry In Your Denim.

Likewise Joseph’s coat of many colours,
Uche’s beautiful Denim-coat resented Dolors.
Because of his unidentified identity,
And radiant melanin in propensity.
He is battered so hard in thought and
Mentally – so it becomes hard to scrub off the filths
Deposited in the young Negro,
Because it becomes so tough like thick
Dirty jean worn at its peak.

Everything on the surface of the earth
Has a time and season; beginning and end, birth and death.
Particularly in Africa, jeans have a season.
But however, not for the purpose of disobedience and treason.
The intent of jeans is to shield the veneer from egregious orison.
Jeans protect the feeble soul from the hazy
ambience of harmattan season,
And also forfends the tender tendons,
from boisterous rigorous ‘cold’ of the rainy season.
Jeans are perfect for two seasons – harmattan and rainy season.

Jean too, like humans and animals are a kind of Gene.
They come in different hues,
And can be customized to fit beautiful shoes.
Jean is a difficult cloth. It can be naughty and knotty.
It is difficult like the hustle and bustle of Lagos at sunrise.
It is gruelling to maintain.
When dirty, it becomes hellacious and laborious to retain.

Jean is born the moment you acquire one from a store,
And must shrink, get wrinkled and finally fade, and
Then recycled. Jeans have a life-span.
Jean was born in a small French village called Nimes.
Was first called ‘fabric de Nimes.
‘Fabric de Nimes’ later became Denim.
The poetry in your Denim ‘Drips’ more than any clothing accessory in your wardrobe.

  2. This is awesome. Ok first, the fusion is dope- peotry & fashion, i've seen nothing like it. Secondly, you managed to keep the piece poetic, yet enlightening and a bit detailed. For me, its all on point!
